Police are investigating whether it was a case of terrorism. Amritsar Police Commissioner Naunihal Singh said, “It is not possible to say anything right now. The investigation is ongoing. All aspects are being looked into. ’’A local resident claimed that six girls were riding rickshaws near the blast site. They were injured when they fell out of the rickshaw in the blast. However, on Sunday morning, the police did not want to give special attention to the possibility of militant sabotage. Forensic experts have collected samples from the spot. According to sources, it is being investigated whether the explosion occurred due to the burst of the gas pipeline.
A statement was issued by the Punjab Police on Sunday morning. The situation is under control now, it said. Police have also appealed to people to refrain from spreading rumours.
