Imphal: Manipur govt lifts curfew for three hours in Churachandpur . On Sunday morning, people will be able to go out of their homes for these three hours. The curfew has been lifted temporarily to allow purchase of essential commodities.
At least 54 people have been killed in the Manipur violence so far. The northeastern state has been in turmoil since Wednesday. The government has imposed curfew in some places to control the situation. Internet services have also been suspended in parts of the state.Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh tweeted a notification on Saturday night. It said curfew will be lifted in Churachandpur from 7 am to 10 am on Sunday for purchase of essential commodities and emergency work. The law and order situation in the area has improved, the government said.
