Agartala: Not even 24 hours have passed since the gang-rape of a college student in Agartala came to light. Earlier, two tribal girls were gangraped again in Tripura. Police said the incident took place in Gomti district. Police have so far arrested one person in connection with the case. The eight accused are still absconding.
On Thursday, a college student was gang-raped in a moving car in Agartala and dumped unconscious in an abandoned area. He was rescued and admitted to Govindballabh Pant Medical College Hospital. The victim is undergoing treatment there. However, doctors said his condition was critical. Various organisations in the state, especially student organisations, have come out in support of the gang-rape incident. They alleged that there was no security for women in the state and even in the capital Agartala.
