Who will be the new Chief Minister of Karnataka? Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar or someone else?

New Delhi: The results of the Karnataka assembly elections are a clear indication of the formation of a Congress government in the state. The Congress party is currently leading strongly in 129 seats, the BJP is trailing with a lead of only 66 seats.At a time when the Congress is hoping to win the Karnataka elections, a question arises – who will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka? At present, the fight for the chief minister’s post in Karnataka is expected to be largely between two top Congress leaders.

They are Congress party leader Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Congress chief D K Shivakumar. DK Shivakumar is currently the Karnataka Congress chief and has immense popularity in the state as well. Shivakumar has worked very hard during the election campaign in Karnataka. He has been termed by many as a qualified person who can take the chief minister’s chair of Karnataka.Siddaramaiah is currently the leader of the opposition in Karnataka, and he served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka from 2013 to 2018. He was succeeded by BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai as the chief minister of the state. He is also one of the senior leaders of the Congress party and a clear contender for the chief minister’s post. The Congress party is yet to officially announce who will be the chief minister despite performing well in the elections. The Congress party is learnt to hold democratic votes among all the new MLAs to decide who will be the next chief minister of Karnataka.
