New Delhi: An independent Muslim candidate has won in Ayodhya in a ward full of Hindu settlements. The recent announcement of an independent Muslim candidate winning the ward known as the Hindutva nerve centre in Ayodhya in the municipal election results in Ayodhya has now taken many by surprise.
Overall the BJP has won the mayoral elections in Ayodhya. The party has won 27 out of 60 wards. Sp and independent candidates have won 17 and 10 wards respectively.Local youth Sultan Ansari has won the Ram Abhiram Das ward, which is named after a key figure in the Ram Janmabhoomi temple movement.
