New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India has decided to completely ban the circulation of Banknotes of Rs 2,000. The Reserve Bank has asked everyone to exchange rs 2,000 notes held by September 30, 2023.
In a statement released on Friday, the central bank said: “As per the Reserve Bank of India’s “Clean Note Policy”, it has been decided to withdraw banknotes worth Rs 2,000 from circulation. In order to complete this work within a stipulated time frame and to give sufficient time to the public, all banks will facilitate deposit and/or exchange of banknotes of Rs. 2000 as on September 30, 2023. “
