Guwahati:The reaction to the mysterious death of sub-inspector Jonmani Rabha of police continues even today. Meanwhile, many have heaved a sigh of relief to know that the CBI will investigate Jonmani’s death, but the CBI is yet to take over the investigation in the case. DGP G P Singh on Saturday suggested that the case of Jonamani’s death be handed over to the CBI.
If the CBI has to hand over the investigation of any criminal incident that takes place in a state, a request from the government of the concerned state to the CBI or an order from the Supreme Court or the High Court in this regard will have to be passed. It is not yet clear whether the state government has made a formal request to the CBI to take over the probe in the Jonmani death case.
