New Delhi: Before exporting, the test should be done in the government laboratory. Only then will Indian cough syrup be allowed to be exported abroad. The government issued a clear directive on Monday. The new rules will come into effect from next month. Last year, 66 children died in the Gambia after consuming cough syrup made by indian companies. Following this, the government has issued special guidelines.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued a special advisory on Monday. “Before exporting cough syrup, tests should be done in government laboratories. This sample is allowed to be exported abroad only if it passes the test.
