Guwahati: Representatives of the All Assam Students’ Union held discussions with nine teachers’ associations of the state at Hotel Prague Continental in Guwahati city today. In the meeting, AASU in-charge President Utpal Sharma said that some decisions have been taken against the government’s decision to destroy the mother tongue medium.
The government should make arrangements for the protection of Assamese, Bodo language and mother tongue medium in schools. The student leader also asked whether he would study Assamese language in Gujarat, Maharashtra or Andhra Pradesh if he could not study in Assamese language in Assam. The student leader again gave a clear warning to the government not to touch the medium of mother tongue in today’s meeting.
