Two days ago, a Delhi court had given the green signal to Rahul’s passport application. Rahul gandhi is scheduled to leave for San Francisco this evening. He will visit three US cities during the visit. Rahul will interact with the Indian-origin residents there.
Earlier in March, Rahul Gandhi was rejected as an MP. He was dismissed as an MP after a Surat court sentenced him to two years in jail in the ‘Modi surname’ case. Subramanian Swamy, who had earlier filed a case in the National Herald case, had opposed the issuance of Rahul Gandhi’s passport. However, in the end, the court ruled that Rahul’s passport should be issued. The court observed that Rahul Gandhi has so far appeared before the investigators either on his own or through his lawyer for questioning in the National Herald case. He did not obstruct or attempt to delay the process of this investigation. Meanwhile, the tour is scheduled to begin this evening.
