Modi govt to send 10 lakh eggs a day to Sri Lanka

New Delhi: The financial crisis is far from over. Egg production is much less than the demand. In this situation, Sri Lanka is looking at India. Ranil Wickremesinghe’s country will import one million eggs per day from five chicken farms in India. The chairman of the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation (STC), the island nation’s largest trading body, said on Wednesday.


STC Chairman Asiri Valisundara said that earlier 20 lakh eggs were imported in one loft from two farms in India. Of these, 10 lakh eggs have reached the market. Sri Lanka’s Animal Production Department has approved the import of eggs from three more Indian farms. For this, officials of the State Trading Corporation and animal production department came to India and surveyed the farm. Since then, a total of five Indian chicken farms have been approved to import eggs.
