New committee of Assam Wrestling Association Formed, Ratul Sharma elected president, Gaurang Roy as secretary
Guwahati: The Annual General Meeting of the Assam Wrestling Association and the formation of a new committee was held on Sunday at Hotel Gateway Grandeur, ChristianBasti, Guwahati. Two elected representatives from 25 districts of Assam participated in the meeting. The newly elected committee was announced by the returning officer advocate Jyoti Narayan Saikia . The committee included the former President of Assam Wrestling Association Minister Pijush Hazarika as chief patron and Ujjwal Baruah as advisor, Ratul Sharma as president, Gaurang Roy as general secretary for next year
. In the new committee Avinash Das included as treasurer, Abhijit Kumar Nath, Babul Khan, Akash Phukan, Binod Kumbang as vice-presidents, Joint Secretary – Sidhanku Ankur Baruah, Narayan Basumatary, Dhaneshwar Basumatary, Konkan Dutta, Executive Members Janpratim Bora, Prince Munda, Mohan Kachari, Nabajyoti Barua, Sagnik Gupta, and Dipankar Gupta respectively. Assam Olympic Association General Secretary Lakshya Konwar, Assam Olympic Association Observer Dhrubajyoti Kalita, Sports Assistant Director Bidhan Das, Returning Officer Advocate Jyoti Narayan Saikia and others were present in the meeting. The new committee of the Assam Wrestling Association, which was announced today, has been congratulated by the Assam Olympic Association as well as various organizations and institutions. Newly appointed president Ratul Sharma took over charge as the president and said that in the coming times, wrestlers will have to be created for the Olympics from Assam as well. He also said that sports talent of Assam must be taken forward with the cooperation of everyone in this regard.
