New Delhi: The Supreme Court has started hearing several cases related to the unrest in Manipur. The petitioners claimed that the Centre and the state government have failed to stop the violence in the northeastern state. The supreme court on Monday sought a status report from the state government on the violence in Manipur. On Saturday night, fresh violence broke out in Manipur’s Khoizumantabi village. Two ‘village sevaks’ were killed in the gunfight.
More than 100 people have been killed in Manipur so far in the two-month-long communal clashes. Normal life is disrupted. Even the houses of several state ministers were attacked.
