Kolkata: 15 deaths reported in seven districts on election day in Bengal.There have been constant allegations of violence and murder. Meanwhile, 66.28 per cent polling was recorded in the state till 5 pm on Saturday. The State Election Commission said. The voter turnout in the state till 3 pm was 51.06 per cent.

There have been allegations of violence in the state since the nomination process. The opposition had approached the High Court seeking central forces at all polling stations in the state. The High Court ordered the polling to be held with 822 companies of central forces. It said that central forces should be deployed at all polling stations. However, in the end, the central forces could not reach all the polling stations in the state. State Election Commissioner Rajiv Singh said efforts were made to deploy central forces at 60,000 booths, but in the end, they were only able to secure a quarter of the votes. Even then, the allegations of violence did not stop.
