‘Can’t justify what happened in Manipur by saying this happened elsewhere…’ Chief Justice Chandrachud’s remarks
New Delhi: The manipur incident cannot be judged by referring to other states. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said this while hearing a case. In Manipur, two victims had moved the court with a fresh petition alleging that they were walking on the streets in disloyalty.
The apex court had earlier said it would hear on Monday the Centre’s plea to complete the CBI probe within six months and shift the probe in the case elsewhere. During the hearing, a lawyer referred to violence against women in West Bengal and Rajasthan. But the nature of the Manipur incident is different,” the CJI said.During Monday’s hearing, the two victims told the court that they did not have faith in the CBI probe. On the contrary, the court’s observation is special.
