Newd Delhi: The crane fell on the workers’ heads at the construction site. At least 16 workers were crushed to death. The accident took place at a construction site in Thane in the wee hours of Tuesday. Several people were also injured when the crane collapsed. Some are still believed to be trapped under the debris. The rescue operation has begun.
The construction of the Samrudhi Expressway was underway in Sahapur area of Thane, Maharashtra. A group of workers were working there in the morning. Suddenly, the crane fell on their heads from above. Many were crushed directly under the crane. They died on the spot. Three workers were rescued with serious injuries and taken to a nearby hospital. They are currently undergoing treatment there.
