New Delhi: Several shops were buried under a landslide on the way to Kedarnath. Many are feared to be buried under the rubble. The incident took place near Gaurikund in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. A team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has already started rescue operations. According to local sources, the landslide occurred due to heavy rains near Gaurikund Post Bridge on Thursday night. Several shops were damaged in the landslide. The owners and employees of the shops were also crushed. According to locals, 19 people are still missing in the incident.
SDRF official Dalip Singh Rajwar told that at least 10 to 12 people are feared to be buried under the landslide. “We received information that three shops were damaged due to landslides following heavy rains. The rescue operation was immediately launched. There were at least 10-12 people in the shops. So far, they have not been found. ’’
