New Delhi: Covid-19 in the news again! The outbreak of a new strain is raising fears again. It is the new variant of the rapidly increasing omicron. This virus called EG.5.1 is called Eris. For now, it’s starting to pull out its “teeth and nails” in Britain. And that’s what many people see as a ‘cloud of sindoor’.

The Eris infection was first detected in Britain in July. In just over a month, the new variant has been shown to increase the infection rapidly. According to a report provided by britain’s health protection agency UKHSA, there has been a 14.6 per cent increase in cases.
