When will Rahul Gandhi return to Parliament? Congress calls meeting of MPs to discuss decision today.
After the Supreme Court’s decision in the Modi surname case, Monday (August 7) is a very special day for the Congress because today a decision can be taken on when Rahul Gandhi will return to Parliament. Lok Sabha officials say that necessary steps will be taken after reading the copy of the Supreme Court’s decision.
On Friday, the Supreme Court gave relief to Rahul Gandhi and stayed his sentence. Since then, discussions have started about his Lok Sabha membership. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has also said that let’s see when Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership is restored.
Lok Sabha officials say that action is usually initiated within 30 minutes after reading the court’s decision and the forms related to such notifications are with the Lok Sabha Secretariat. The Congress high command has also called a meeting of party MPs, in which the demand for Rahul Gandhi’s membership can be discussed. The meeting is scheduled to be held at 10.30 am at the party’s parliamentary office.
