New Delhi: The monsoon has started again in Himachal Pradesh. The hill state has been hit by rains since June. In the meantime, the rain had subsided a bit. But in August, the monsoon returned to its old form. Several parts of Himachal Pradesh have been witnessing heavy rains for the past few days. According to the met office, the weather will not improve for the next several days. Instead, the rain may increase. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in many cities. An orange alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department.
Himachal Pradesh received heavy rainfall throughout the day on Saturday. Several roads have collapsed. The road was so damaged by the collapse that traffic had to be stopped. As a result, communication has been cut off from one end of Himachal to another. To close at least 302 roads across the state. The administration was forced. Repair work is underway on the road. However, the work is being disrupted as the rain has not stopped. According to the weather forecast, rains will continue in Himachal till August 17.
The mandi-kullu national highway collapsed and communication with kullu-manali area was completely cut off. Alternative roads have also been waterlogged, creating hurdles for commuting. In this situation, the water of the hill rivers has started increasing gradually. As a result, there is a risk of flooding.
A Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus met with an accident on Saturday after it collapsed due to rain. A section of the road on the Mandi-Shimla highway suddenly sat down. Twelve passengers of the bus were injured in the accident. However, the driver managed to stop the bus at the right time. So many passengers’ lives were saved. If it lost control, the bus could have fallen into the ditch. There could have been a bigger accident.
