PM Modi arrives in Athens on one-day visit, first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Greece in 40 years
New Delhi: According to the Ministry of External Affairs, modi’s visit to Greece will discuss investment prospects between the two countries. Apart from this, efforts will be made to strengthen bilateral understanding on defence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Athens, South Africa, after the BRICS summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. During the one-day visit, he is scheduled to discuss a range of issues with the Greek prime minister. This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Greece in 40 years. In 1983, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi visited Greece. The visit of an Indian head of state to Greece after 40 years is seen as a sign of the importance of the Mediterranean country in the current geopolitical situation.
