Internet ban was a mistake, Manipur media became ‘Meitei Media’ during violence: Editors Guild

New Delhi: A fact-finding team from the Editors Guild of India visited violence-hit Manipur last month. A report released by the team said the internet ban by the Manipur government had a detrimental effect on journalism, as local news collected without any communication was not enough to give a balanced view of the situation.

New Delhi: A fact-finding team from the Editors Guild of India has visited Manipur to examine media reports related to the state. The team has released a report, mentioning that “one-sided” reports were published during the ethnic violence and that the internet ban made “matters worse”.
