New Delhi: India or Bharat. Lately there was a political uproar over both names of our country. It is being said that the Modi government will change the name of the country from ‘India’ to ‘Bharat’. However, in the evening, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the government is not calling a special session of Parliament to change the name. Thakur dismissed the claim as a “rumour”.

But there is one question that cannot be dismissed. The question is how much will it cost if the name of the country is changed.By the way, India is not the first country where there is talk of changing or changing the name. Such changes have happened from time to time in many countries before. Sometimes to erase colonial legacy. So sometimes to streamline the administration.Every change carries with it some cost. Like painting at home. He has his own expenses. Change the name in the school or change your address or name in a document. Not all changes happen at no cost. The same happens at the country level. If the name is changed, then all the documents, official website, various institutions of the country and many other major changes will also have to be made. All of them will have their own different expenses. There are also some ways to do this. One such method was devised by a South African lawyer, name Darren Olivier. Olivier compared the process of name change in African countries to the rebranding exercise of a large corporate, according to which the average marketing cost of a large corporate house is 6 percent of its revenue. At the same time, the cost of rebranding exercise can be up to 10 percent of the company’s marketing budget.India’s revenue receipts for the financial year 2023 stood at Rs 23,84,000 crore. This includes tax and non-tax revenue earned by the government. Based on the amount of this revenue, according to the ‘Olivier Model’, the process of renaming our country will cost around Rs 14,304 crore.
