New Delhi: Accident in Maharashtra’s Thane town. The elevator hit the basement of the third floor from the 40th floor. Seven people were killed in the accident. All were labourers by profession. The incident took place around 5.30 pm on Sunday at a multi-storey building called Ranwal Complex in Balkum area of Thane city. The deceased have been identified as Mahendra Chaupal (32), Rupesh Kumar Das (21), Harun Sheikh (47), Mithilesh (35), Karidas (38) and Sunil Kumar Das (21). Six of the dead have been identified, but the identity of one was not known at the time of publication of this report.
According to the police, the rope was torn and the lift hit the basement. According to police, seven people were present inside the elevator at the time of the accident. All seven died, police said. Several people present at the spot were seriously injured.
