Foreign connection to Manipur violence! NIA arrests suspected militant, brought to Delhi for questioning
New Delhi: The NIA has arrested a suspected militant for allegedly having links with Myanmar-based militant outfits and conspiring to wage war against India by taking advantage of the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur. Moirangthem Anand Singh was arrested from Manipur and brought to New Delhi for questioning, an NIA spokesperson said.”Anand Singh was among the five accused arrested by Manipur Police for allegedly looting weapons from the police armoury. His arrest had triggered protests by the state’s majority community, who claimed he was one of the village defence activists. The five accused were granted bail by a local court on Friday.
Anand Singh was immediately arrested and taken to an undisclosed location before being brought to Delhi, the official said. The accused, Anand Singh, was arrested in a case related to an international conspiracy hatched by the leadership of Myanmar-based terror groups to wage war against the Indian government by taking advantage of the prevailing ethnic unrest in Manipur, the official said. The NIA had registered the case on July 19 in New Delhi after taking suo motu cognisance.
