New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the deadline for exchange of rs 2,000 notes, which were demonetised, by one more week. Old Rs 2,000 notes can be exchanged till October 7. The central bank said.
In mid-May, the Reserve Bank announced its decision to withdraw all Rs 2,000 notes from the market. In a statement, the RBI said that if anyone has Rs 2,000 notes, they will have to deposit it in the bank by September 30 and change it. Up to Tk 20,000 can be deposited at a time. Other notes can be taken by depositing or replacing these notes in any bank.
