New Delhi:There was a danger of incessant heavy rains. His companion was the cloudburst. In Sikkim, a vehicle of army personnel was washed away by the Lonak Lake in the Lachen Valley. Twenty-three army personnel are missing. The rescue operation has begun. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed concern over the news of the incident. He assured all cooperation from the state government.
A red alert has been sounded in north and east Sikkim as the water level of teesta river is rising abnormally. It’s almost the same in North Bengal. Water is entering Gajaldoba of Malbazar sub-division due to the opening of several lockgates of Teesta. Many roads have been submerged. A yellow alert has been issued in the protected areas of Teesta.
