Mumbai:India registered its biggest win, by margin of runs, at the ODI World Cup when it thrashed Sri Lanka by 302 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.It was also the second largest victory overall in World Cup history, bettered only by Australia’s 309-run win over Netherlands earlier in the tournament.
India surpassed its previous largest victory, a 257-run win against Bermuda in 2007, by quite a distance after bundling out the Lankans, who were chasing 358, for just 55 runs.Mohammed Shami clinched 5 crucial wickets as India’s pace attack wipes out Sri Lanka on the meagre score of 55 runs.
