New Delhi: Lubna was stranded in Gaza amid Hamas-Israel clashes. She was accompanied by her husband and daughter. When israeli troops entered Gaza, they ran desperately south to escape the constant bombardment. That’s where life has been spent for so long. No water, no medicine, no electricity – the sound of bombs and bullets every moment.
Lubna repeatedly sent messages to representatives of the Indian High Commissions in Ramallah, Tel Aviv and Cairo to rescue them from this miserable situation. In the end, it worked. Lubna Nazir Shabu and her bride, Karima, were rescued from the war-torn Gaza on Monday evening. They were then taken across the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt to Egypt. Lubna’s husband confirmed that both his wife and daughter arrived in the Egyptian city of Al-Arish on Monday. They left for Cairo on Tuesday.
