New Delhi: Muslim women should not go to beauty parlours. Especially where men work. It’s a “forbidden” thing at all. A cleric from Uttar Pradesh has given such a diagnosis.
Mufti Asad Qasmi, a cleric, however, believes that Muslim women are not barred from going to beauty parlours where women work. All her objections are to male employees going to beauty parlours. She attacked going to that kind of parlor and getting makeup done.
His diagnosis has naturally sparked controversy. This reminds many of a recent incident in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. A man divorced his wife after seeing her on a video call that she had raised her eyebrows. He was working in Saudi Arabia. Seeing his wife, the man named Salim said, “You have come this far! Did you plan your eyebrows despite all my objections? From today, I have freed you from this marriage. After this, Salim pronounced talaq three times in a row and cut off the phone. He did not return calls once, despite repeated calls. After such an incident, a cleric from Uttar Pradesh has given such a diagnosis about a beauty parlour.
