Guwahati”Three important decisions were taken at a meeting of the state cabinet held at Janata Bhawan in Dispur today. Minister Jayanta Malla Barua highlighted the decision taken by the cabinet and said that buffalo fights of Ahatguri would be resumed. The traditional fight will resume on the basis of new SOP.
Tradition will be preserved by conducting buffalo fights banned by the court through specific sops.The Cabinet also decided to set up digital libraries in 2197 gram panchayats and 400 GMC wards in the state. The Assam cabinet released Rs 269 crore for installation of digital library in these panchayat. It was also decided to set up a new directorate for The indigenous Muslims of Char. District wise data of indigenous Muslims will be collected. for which Directorate of Minorities will be set up. The survey will be done for communities such as Garia Maria, Syed, Jolha Desi etc.They wanted them to be surveyed because many of them were collaborating with infiltrators.
