Peace accord with ULFA’s pro-talk faction in January next year, says CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in New Delhi
New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is currently in New Delhi on an official visit, revealed a series of things to the media on Friday. Chief Minister Dr Sharma said President Draupadi Murmu has been invited to the Karbi Youth Festival in February. Similarly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited to open the Kamakhya Corridor in February. Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said that he had discussed with various stakeholders about the issue of Rohingya infiltrators who entered Assam via Tripura.
The Chief Minister also said that a bill on polygamy would be brought in the Assam Assembly in February. The Chief Minister also said that he had called on Tapan Kumar Deka, Director, Intelligence Bureau and son of Assam, in Delhi. The Chief Minister also said that the process of signing a peace accord with the pro-talk faction of ulfa is progressing. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the peace talk between the government and the ULFA ( Pro-Talk faction ) is going on in the right direction.Sarma informed that this group declared indefinite ceasefire in the year 2011 and after that several tripartite talks were held.The Chief Minister also said that the government has also appealed to ULFA – Independence faction Chief Paresh Baruah to join the main stream . He revealed that the peace accord with ULFA ( Pro-Talk faction ) will be signed in the first week of January. He also mentioned that the issue of “Clause 6” has gained importance in the draft agreement. The chief minister said we will hold talks with Paresh Baruah after the agreement with the pro-talks ULFA is signed.Chief Minister Sarma also asked if a couple of grenades blasts would make Assam independent. If such a situation continues in Assam, Assam will only go backward.
