The prestigious ‘Asom Prakashan Parishad Literary Award ‘ and the ‘Asom Prakashan Parishad Publisher Award’ conferred on eminent litterateurs and publishers were announced today. This was announced by The Secretary of the Asom Prakashan Parishad and The All Assam Book Publishers and Sellers Association at a press conference in Guwahati.
Eminent litterateur Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bora has been honoured with the ‘Assam Prakashan Parishad Literary Award’ for the year 2023. The award has been presented to him for his book ‘Inner Landscapes’.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, a citation, an angavastra and a bundle of books.
The publisher’s award carries a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, a citation, an item and a bouquet of books. The award will be formally presented at the inauguration ceremony of The Assam Book Fair, Guwahati on Friday.
It may be recalled that the Asom Prakashan Parishad Literary Award was presented by the Asom Prakashan Parishad to Dr. Nandita Devi 2021 and Dr. Pranabjyoti Deka in the year 2022. Similarly, the two publishing houses that have won the publisher’s award in those two years are ‘Jyoti Prakashan’ and ‘Bandhab’ respectively.
This time around 200 books from writers and publishers were submitted to the Asom Prakashan Parishad for the award. The jury constituted for the award first selected 20 books from these 200 books.
In the next phase, 10 books and finally six books were selected for final consideration. Out of these six books, Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bora’s book ‘Inner Landscapes’ was selected for the 2023 Assam Prakashan Parishad Literary Award. The ‘Asom Prakashan Parishad Publisher Award’ was also presented to the Assam Publishing Company, the publisher of Dr. Bora’s novel ‘Inner Landskeeps’.Sumanta Chaliha (Chairman), Dr. Aditi Bezbaruah (Member), Dr. Satyakam Borthakur (Member), Dr. Lakshmi Hazarika (Member) and Mihir Deori (Members) were included in the 2023 judging committee of the ‘Asom Prakashan Parishad Literary Award’.
