The Assam Skill University will be started in 2026, Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah says at press conference

Guwahati: Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah addressed a press conference on various issues of the state on Tuesday. At the press conference, Minister Barua mocks the AASU without mentioning anyone’s name in the context of the agreement and clause 6 . Minister Barua said that one should now think about the issue of reality. Stating that the reality in Assam is very different, Minister Baruah said that will Bangladesh accept that their people are in Assam just because AASU asks to make a deal? He also said that it was futile to ask for a repatriation agreement with Bangladesh. Commenting on Rahul Gandhi, Baruah said – in my political history, Rahul Gandhi has launched many times so far. But he has failed everywhere. This time he wants to do re-launching from Manipur .

Such launching means failure of Rahul Gandhi. He added that the Congress should field candidates only in two and a half seats. He said- We will get eleven and a half seats. He said the BJP candidate will win 100 per cent in the Dima Hasao election. Baruah also said that there is no opposition in Dima Hasao. He also mentioned that re Registration has been started again in Employment Exchange from today. He said those who have been registered earlier will also have to do re-registration. Earlier, there was no information on some new topics on the portal. The process has been initiated to take information on new topics. Reregisteration can be done in the months of January and February. He said that this facility will remain open on the portal till February 29.
The minister also said that 88,000 people have been given jobs so far. He added that skill yatras have been conducted in four districts including Kamrup, Darrang and Morigaon for awareness. He also said that The Assam Skill University will be started in 2026. Similarly, a campus will be started at ITI Guwahati from this year itself. The skill yatras will take place in 10 districts this year. Six State of the Art Institutes will start this year. The institute will have 3 ITIs and 3 polytechnics. The government has tied up with Tata Electronics to develop technical skills.Minister Baruah said that the mega career counselling and career fair will be held on January 29. The minister also said that subjects which do not have employment opportunities will be closed in ITIs.
Talking about the Jal Jeevan Mission, Minister Baruah said that the Jal Jeevan Mission has touched 70 per cent of the population of Assam. 70 per cent of the people are being given water from the Jal Jeevan Mission from house to house. The target has been set to make it 80 per cent by March of this year. 100 per cent jal jeevan mission will be completed by 2024. For the first time in Assam, the PHE department has been given Rs 2674.5 crore without going to office through 7600 e-bills. The government will think of increasing the honorarium of jal Mitras and temporary employees. In January, 1 lakh people will get Rs 12,000 directly for the construction of toilets in their accounts. In the year 2023, money has been given to one lakh people. Referring to the tourism department, Minister Baruah said that in 2022-23, the number of domestic tourists has crossed 83 lakh. More than 63 lakh domestic tourists have come to Assam since 2023. He added that the tourism law will be brought in the Legislative Assembly in February. He added that the number of foreign tourists in 2023 was more than 15,000. Minister Barua also said that Jorhat and Kokrajhar will be developed as tourist spots. Seven religious places including Kamakhya, Ashwaklanta, Daul Govinda, Auniati Satra will be developed as tourist spots.
