Guwahati: The 48-hour strike called by the motor transport body in the state today has had a huge impact on the transport system. Buses, city buses, trucks, taxis, etc. plying on commercial basis in different parts of the state, including Guwahati city, have been closed today. But recently the motor transporter has decided to reduce the 48-hour strike to 24 hours .
The decision was taken at the end of a meeting with officials of the transport department for nearly five hours on Friday. The motor transport body demanding the repeal of some laws. The motor transport body handed over memorandums containing various demands to the transport department officials.The time of strike has been reduced from 48 hours to 24 hours due to assurances given by the state government that it will send the memorandums to the central government. However, the strike will continue till 5 am tomorrow.
