20% voter turnout in 4 hours, one killed in Bangladesh election violence

Dhaka: Voting began at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Less than 20 percent of the votes were cast till 12 noon. There is turmoil. One person has already died in poll violence.

The 12th parliamentary election is underway in Bangladesh. However, the presence of voters in the booths has been low since morning. According to Bangladeshi media Prothom Alo, the number of voters is particularly low in the capital Dhaka. According to Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam, only 18.5 percent votes were cast in four hours from 8am to 12pm.

The voting process began at 8 a.m. It will continue until 4 p.m. In the meantime, unrest continues in Bangladesh. The country’s main opposition BNP had earlier said it would boycott the election. Apart from this, opposition camps like Jamaat-e-Islami and Left Alliance boycotted this election
