Will the Supreme Court ruling on electoral bonds be enforced? The Election Commission has opened its mouth
New Delhi: There is no objection to the implementation of the Supreme Court’s verdict on electoral bonds. The Election Commission said. The Commission says it is always in favor of transparency. Once we get the order of the Supreme Court, arrangements will be made accordingly.
In a historic verdict on Thursday, the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court declared electoral bonds unconstitutional. It also said that political parties will have to make public in March how much money they have received from which industrial units in the last five years. The apex court directed the State Bank of India (SBI) to furnish details of the companies buying electoral bonds to the Election Commission. The Election Commission will publish it on its website. In other words, before the Lok Sabha elections, the EC will have to disclose how much money a political party has received from an industrial body in the last five years before the Lok Sabha elections. What’s your opinion on that? Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, “The Commission has always been in favour of transparency. I will always follow the court’s orders. “The Election Commission was also a party to the electoral bond case. The Commission is always in favor of transparency. ”
Significantly, the Commission wants to accept the Supreme Court’s verdict, but many within the ruling party at the Center are objecting to this verdict. Moreover, it is being argued from a quarter that the rules of the bank may be a hindrance in the implementation of the Supreme Court verdict. According to the bank’s rules, confidential information cannot be made public in any way. To obey the Supreme Court’s ruling, that rule has to be broken. Which is not legally possible.
