Two Chandigarh councillors return to AAP, join BJP ahead of mayoral polls

New Delhi: There was no less drama surrounding the mayoral election in Chandigarh. The matter went all the way to the Supreme Court. The AAP-Congress had alleged ‘vote rigging’ in the mayoral election. AAP’s Kuldeep Singh won the mayoral election after ‘losing’. Just as there were allegations of ‘vote rigging’ behind the defeat, the joining of three AAP councillors to the BJP was also a ‘big’ factor. Within a month, two of the three councillors left the BJP and returned to the AAP.

On February 18, three councillors — Poonam Devi, Neha Musawat and Gurucharan Kala — abruptly quit the AAP and joined the party. Arvind Kejriwal’s party came under pressure to contest the Chandigarh mayoral election. But this time, Poonam and Neha’s ‘Gharwapsi’ is among them.
