New Delhi: Bhutan’s highest civilian award was conferred on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is on a two-day visit to the neighbouring country. This visit is diplomatically important. On Friday, the King of Bhutan honoured him with the Druk Gyalpo.

Speaking after being felicitated, an emotional Modi said, “Today is a very big day in my life. I was awarded Bhutan’s highest civilian honour. Every award is special. But when there are awards from other countries, it shows that both countries are moving in the right direction. I accept this award on behalf of every Indian. Thanks a lot for that. ”
Modi also attended a cultural event. He was accompanied by Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. Earlier, a group of Bhutanese girls danced to the Garba song written by Modi to welcome him. Modi is scheduled to inaugurate a children’s hospital in Thimphu. The Modi government has also provided financial assistance to the Bhutan government for the construction of this hospital.
He was scheduled to visit Bhutan for two days from Thursday. But the trip was abruptly cancelled. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bhutan has been cancelled due to “inclement weather”. However, the Prime Minister reached Bhutan on Friday instead of Thursday. He will be in the country for two days.
