New Delhi: Covid vaccine Covishield has deadly side effects. Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has already admitted to the danger of the drug in Britain’s court. In this situation, the father of a young woman who died in 2021 at the age of 20 is approaching the court to sue the company. He claimed that Covishield killed his daughter.
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court following allegations against Covishield. Now the issue of the late young woman Karunya has come to the fore. His father Venugopalan Govindan also slammed the Serum Institute of India (SII), the manufacturer of AstraZeneca and Covishield.
In his post, he claimed that Serum Institute should have stopped supplying the vaccine even after 15 European countries stopped its use due to blood clotting deaths after use. He has already gone to many courts seeking justice, but no hearing has been held. On AstraZeneca’s acknowledgment of the side effects of the vaccine, he wrote, “They admitted but too late. By then, many people had lost their lives prematurely. Rachna Gangu and Venugopalan, the mother of another woman, Ritika who died in 2021, had earlier filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court.
Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) was given a licence to manufacture AstraZeneca’s drug in India. During the pandemic, most people in the country had taken the Covishield vaccine. As a result, they are also at risk of side effects. A lawyer named Vishal Tiwari filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. After Britain, Covishield has created a new controversy in India.
