Kejriwal’s application for additional 7 days interim bail, demand for speedy hearing rejected in Supreme Court
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal (Arvind Kejriwal) applied for an additional 7 days of bail in the Supreme Court (Supreme Court). Up Supreme Court INJB applied for speedy hearing of the case. However, the Supreme Court did not agree to hear the case in a hurry.
According to Aam Aadmi Party sources, the UP supremo will have to undergo several physical tests. These include PET-CT scans. Basically this test is done to determine the cancer. According to the party, Kejri wants to extend the period of interim bail as he has to undergo multiple physical tests. The Chief Minister of Delhi has appealed to the Supreme Court to extend the bail for at least seven days. Along with this, Kejri’s lawyer requested for a quick hearing. However, the court on Tuesday said that Chief Justice DO Y Chandrachud will decide on the matter. The Supreme Court dismissed the petition for speedy hearing.
It should be noted that on March 21, ED took Kejriwal (Arvind Kejriwal) into their custody on charges of corruption in the excise case. A couple of weeks later he was sent to Tihar Jail. The Delhi Chief Minister filed a case in the Supreme Court opposing the ED’s arrest. His lawyers claimed that Kejri was sent to jail deliberately to prevent him from campaigning. Based on that question, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Kejri for 21 days on May 10. That is, the Supreme Court granted interim bail till the date of election results on June 1. Kejri is now seeking bail for an additional 7 days.
