Prajwal Revanna is leading the counting of votes despite being arrested for alleged sexual assault

New Delhi: Prajjal Revanna, who was arrested on sexual assault charges, fled abroad for fear of arrest and later returned to the country, is leading the polls. He is leading in the Hassan Lok Sabha seat. As of noon, JDS leader Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister Deve Gowda and nephew of former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, was leading from the constituency.

Prajwal Revanna is leading by more than 13,500 votes against Congress’ Shreyas Patel. In the 2019 general elections, he won by a margin of more than 1.4 lakh against Hassan.Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister Deve Gowda and nephew of former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, left for Germany on April 27, a day after polling in the constituency.A special investigation team was formed to probe the allegations against him and a blue corner notice was also issued to help trace the MP. The JDS leader was arrested on the morning of May 31 after returning to India after many warnings.
