New Delhi: The country is now heated over the leakage of question papers of various examinations. The 2024 NEET UG question papers have been leaked across the country. The BJP-led central government has been criticised. This examination is conducted by the NTA for the selection of students to study medical courses. In the latest developments, a notification issued by the Ministry of Employees, Public Grievances and Pensions has come under scrutiny. According to the notification, the Public Examinations (Prevention of Dishonesty) Act, 2024 will prevent unfair means in public examinations and general entrance examinations conducted across the country.

The bill was passed in both houses of Parliament in the budget session that ended on February The bill aims to make the examination system “more transparent, fair and trustworthy” by preventing “dishonest means” in examinations. President Draupadi Murmu had approved the Examinations (Prevention of Dishonesty) Bill on February 13. The primary objective of the bill is to tackle cheating in government recruitment examinations.

The Anti-Leakage of Question Papers Act provides for punishment for both leakage and cheating of candidates. In case of question paper leakage, the offender can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined Rs 1 crore. Those who take the examination on behalf of others can be sentenced to three to five years in jail and a fine of Rs 10 lakh.
