New Delhi: Assam has shown very good results in terms of sustainable development in the SDG India Index 2023-24 report released by the NITI Aayog. The North Eastern State has improved its overall score by 8 points from 2020-21. Assam has shown continuous improvement since 2018 and the State has increased its sustainable development by 16 points to secure its place in the “Leading” States category.
This category compares the pace of development based on scores between 65 and 99 on the SDG index. Assam’s progress reflects the state’s commitment to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Manipur has improved by 8 points to the category of “leading” states. Other states in the North East showed varying degrees of improvement: Tripura with 6 points, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim with 5 each, Mizoram with 4, Meghalaya with 3, and Nagaland with 2 points.
