New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi took about one and a half crore rupees from the Congress to stand in the Lok Sabha elections. Congress has informed the Election Commission of this information. He has made 70 crore rupees for each of these two centers, Rae Bareli and wayanad. Incidentally, Rahul won both the seats. Ultimately he chose the seat of Uttar Pradesh.
But Rahul Gandhi was not the most ‘expensive’ candidate. Vikramaditya Singh, the Congress candidate in Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, received Rs 87 lakh. But he could not win the vote. He was defeated by actress Kangana Ranaut. Also Kishorilal Sharma also received Rs 70 lakhs for contesting elections in Amethi. He defeated Smriti Irani. Also, Congress leaders KC Venugopal, Manikaram Thakur also received Rs 70 lakhs for being candidates. Besides, senior Congress leaders like Anand Sharma and Digvijoy Singh received Rs 46 lakh and Rs 50 lakh respectively for contesting the polls.
