Chapar Sept 9: Under the auspices of Alokore Yatra, a frontline NGO of Chapar remembered Dr. Bhupen Hazarika (Sunday) on his 98th birth anniversary with a day-long programme held on the premises of Chapar Higher secondary (Model) School. Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sharma, Associate Dean, Sarat Chandra Singha Agriculture College paid tribute to Sudhakantha and Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika by garlanding his portrait. Earthen lamps were lit by Dr. Sheikh Hedayatulla, Ex Principal Ratnapith College and Shradhanjali was offered by Dr. Hussain Ali Ahmed, Deputy Superintendent of Chapar CHC( Chapar Hospital ).The memorial meeting held under the presidentship of Tilak Chandra Prasad, secretary, Alokore Yatra was addressed by a number of invited guests. On the occasion, an art competition was held. Six numbers of singers presented songs of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and seven poets recited self composed poems. Annesha Paul of Bilasipara enthralled the audience with her dance. The winners of the art competition held in three groups were presented prizes after the end of the meeting.
