Atishi’s request for the formation of the new government, addressed to the LG, did not specify a date for the swearing-in, and she has indicated that she may take the oath alone, with plans to announce her cabinet members at a later time.

New Delhi:In a significant political development, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has forwarded outgoing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation letter to President Droupadi Murmu. He has also proposed that Atishi be sworn in as the new Chief Minister on September 21. Atishi’s request for the formation of the new government, addressed to the LG, did not specify a date for the swearing-in, and she has indicated that she may take the oath alone, with plans to announce her cabinet members at a later time.

In the meantime, Kejriwal is preparing to vacate his official residence within the next week, according to AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. Singh noted that Kejriwal is committed to relinquishing all the privileges associated with his position, including his security detail. Despite advice from party members regarding his safety—considering past threats against him—Kejriwal expressed his determination to live among the public as an ordinary citizen. “I have lived in jail for six months; God saved me then, and He will save me now,” he stated, reflecting his resilient spirit.

As Delhi anticipates the transition of power, Atishi’s leadership may signal new directions for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the city’s governance. With Kejriwal stepping down, the political landscape in Delhi is poised for a fresh chapter, and all eyes will be on the upcoming swearing-in ceremony.

This transition marks a critical moment for both the party and the capital, as the AAP prepares to navigate the challenges ahead under new leadership.
