In a significant move for community advocacy, Zo United has officially rebranded as the Kuki-Zo Council following a decisive vote among constituent bodies. The new identity aims to enhance political representation for the Kuki-Zo community.

Imphal:In a pivotal meeting on October 5 at the YMA Hall in Churachandpur, Zo United has announced its rebranding to the Kuki-Zo Council. This change comes after extensive discussions among representatives from 27 constituent organizations, who gathered to determine the future of the coalition.

During the voting process involving 30 groups, 19 members endorsed the new name, while 9 preferred to retain the original identity. Additionally, one vote was cast for the name Kuki-Mizo Council, and one participant abstained. Notably, three organizations—COTU, MTFD, and KI Saikul—cast their votes online.

The majority decision led to the establishment of the Kuki-Zo Council, which aims to serve as a robust political platform to enhance advocacy and representation for the Kuki-Zo community. The resolution will be submitted to the Mizoram NGO Coordination Committee for approval, with plans to finalize the new council’s formation within two weeks.
