Guwahati:In a significant blow to drug trafficking, the Badarpur police in Karimganj, Assam, seized banned drugs valued at approximately Rs 2 crore during a recent operation. The authorities arrested Diliyar Hussain Chowdhury, a resident of Katigara in the Cachar district, who is believed to be connected to the illegal drug trade.
The police intercepted around 10,000 Yaba tablets, a substance classified as illegal, during a routine check on a passenger vehicle at Badarpur Ghat. This successful operation was made possible through intelligence gathered from reliable sources, which informed the police about the transportation of these drugs from Katigara to Badarpur.
This incident underscores the commitment of Assam’s law enforcement to curbing the flow of illicit substances in the region. In a related development, the police in Karbi Anglong district seized drugs worth over Rs 1.60 crore and arrested five individuals during two separate operations on Monday. Acting on specific intelligence, officers recovered 117.52 grams of heroin hidden in 10 soap cases from a vehicle bound for Arunachal Pradesh.
