Guwahati:On October 17, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that more than 80 lakh individuals in the state have successfully moved out of multidimensional poverty in recent years. He credited this achievement to the effectiveness of the government’s various initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.During his address on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, Sarma stated, “A comprehensive net of policies—including Orunodoi, free food grains, free medical treatment, subsidized medicines, and housing with water connections—has significantly enhanced living conditions throughout Assam.”
